Jade, Thank you for the comments on the English Wall Garden stairs. You can leave that part of the garden via the stairs or go to another part of the English garden. I will post more to that album in the next few days. We are also planning another photo walk there this Friday if it doesn't rain. By then the fall colors should be great. Thanks again. - Tim

Jade wrote: "So, if you took this shot BEFORE putting the cupola on, I would see sky in the square, right? What I'm seeing now is the completed job." Ira says; Yes, that's exactly correct.

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment one the Ark photo's. We do have good lighting in the church but that was not the reason they turned out. We were able to come and look at the Ark plus I really have a thing for the zoom function. Still need more practice though as I sometimes cut pieces off......Anna

Hi Jade.. Hello... I am working on a new album... The birth of a cactus flower... But I will like your comments on it ... I'm excited about it... I planted this cactus about 5 years ago and this is the first year it is having a flower... And can you believe it... it is facing my neighbors yard... So to get photos of it I have to climb up a ladder twist and turn to get a shot... Darn it all... And to top it off it is blooming tonight... In the dark... Wow such drama... Anyway it is fun... Here is the link... Oh and by the way the flower is beautiful.... Oh.. and the beautiful flower only lasted for 24 hours... So sad... all that time to turn into a beautiful flower and only lasted for such a short time... But I am so happy I got to see it... So many people miss the beautiful things in life cause they don't look or don't have the time... I am so glad I got to see this... Check it out and tell me what you think... http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/560969147YhtLGb?vhost=home-and-garden&action=refreshPhotos&albumID=560969147&security=YhtLGb Thanks so much... If you look at image #16 in the gazebo album you can see all 8 of the common rafters have been attached to that box. If you look at image #15 you can see how I supported the box after my first attempt failed. The four hip rafters run from each corner of the base to each corner of the box. The rest of the rafters that fill in the roof are called "hip jack" rafters or just "jack" rafters.

If you refer again to the middle picture in the shoe box you can see two short pieces of wood that cross in almost the exact center of the image. These 2 pieces hold the opposite sides of the cupola roof together. The 4 angled pieces in the center are where the sides of the cupola roof are joined together. Do you see some darker toned wood towards the center of the image? These are the sides of the cupola. If you look carefully at the bottom one of these darker toned pieces you might be able to make out the louvers in the sidie of the cupola. The dimensions of the cupola are the same as the open box in the roof. The cupola just attaches to the box. I hope this makes sense.

Jade, Thanks for the acknowledgement for the Creative Challenge photo. It is appreciated. Okay - the cupola. I'll try to explain. Refer to the middle photo in my shoebox. There are 2 very prominent studs running horiz across the image and in back of those there are 2 vertically oriented studs. These four studs form a square. Do you see it? Look just below the bottom horiz stud you'll see 2 studs running at an angle. Same thing on the top, you'll see 2 studs running at an angle. These are the "hip" rafters. There are 4 of them one running from each corner to a box at the center. Just above the bottom horiz stud you can see 2 more studs running at an angle off the sides of the image. These are "common" rafters and are attached to the box at the center. Just above the center of the bottom horiz stud you can see a short piece of wood that looks like it is connecting the "common" rafters. That is one side of the box. You can't see the other 3 sides in this image because they are hidden. The box forms an opening 1'10" square all the rafters are connected to this box. This box is the flat roof top that you said you saw in the other pictures. So to recap all the rafters connected to this square opening in the center.

Jade I only see one entry on the WW for you. It's of the pink geranium. You have to copy and paste for this one, not use the tag system. When I think of staircases I think of the grand ballroom type ones (you know..like "Gone with the wind style"). Guess I had better tootle around and see if I can find some huh?

Hi Jade..thanks for checking out my Birch tree. I think it's actually called a silver birch. Glad you liked it. Have a great week. I'm sad as I have NO staircases to shoot. Oh well.....Mouse

Hi Jade, Thanks for taking a peek at my albums. The place in Florida is Ocala and its a very nice place. We didn't buy but are still thinking about it. And no we don't grow the pumpkins, this is just a little display I did for the grandkids....And the man wasn't going to shoot the moose he was warning the other people not to come closer. those were across the street front my house...right in town.

HI Jade.....To answer your question on the Mountain Stream photo.....well.....the intent WAS to be standing on a rock.....the actual result....was to be standing knee deep in water. But hey....I cant complain.....I did enjoy the result. :-) Regards....John

as a little kid, I would probably NOT ride the goat on a merry-go-round, but as an adult, I found this animal to be one of the most artistic on the caruousel. thanks for your comment

Hi Jade, the answers to my macro photos were: horse's mane; seaweed and a growth on an old potato! thanks for looking, Vanja

Hi Jade: "Many Thanks" for your kind comment on my "Bird in Snow" entry. :-) To answer your "size question" ... the bird itself is 8-1/4 inches long (head to tail). It was created specifically for the 1971 Cahners Publishing Co. Art Show where it won "Second Place" in the sculpture category. Marv (BerryMan)

Jade said: How about a closeup of your DOUBLE DISTLEFINK WILLKOM HEX SIGN? Would make a great (#50) ending shot (and I could tell if I'm seeing it correctly)! lol Ira says: Yes, that's correct, it is a double distlefink. I had thought about a close up as the last picture but I never got around to it. I'm too busy being lazy inside the gazebo Ira
