I love garage sales and flea markets. The pics I have posted are all from garage sales in 2006. 2007 wasn't a great year, I think people are catching on! LOL I have a few more finds that I will post over the weekend. My 7 yr old grandson is my garage sale partner. He loves them..and he's small enough to scramble for things across the room. :-)

Hi Barb, I wondered if you ever went to CountrySamplerMagazine.co m and got any of the free patterns. I saw a hooked chair pad and hooked pumpkin pillow and thought you might be interested in them. The chair pad is really neat.

I think you have proven the art teacher wrong!

Barb, I have only had experience with "Lancaster Rug Hooking" kits. I bought mine at my local shops but they are not very plentiful. I have found "Lancaster Rug Hooking" on the internet before, but as I remember they were very difficult to find. If I can find them again I will let you know where. I think you would do fine with any "Primitive" rug hooking kit as long as the instructions are good. Not that it is difficult to do, but they give tips that makes it go easier for a beginner. I hope you try one, if only to see what it is like.

Hi Barb, I find primitive rug hooking very easy. If you want to try it I recommend that the first time be with a kit. That way the strips are already cut(so you don't need to purchase a cutter). Mine included a video and the hook. All I needed to buy outside the kit was a hoop. I bought a quilting hoop. I think it was about 14". Unlike needlepunch you work from the right side of the rug. The strips are fairly wide, so it moves along fast. There is no sharp point to deal with, so I sit in a comfortable chair when I do it.

Hi Barb, My friend's husband cut the board for me and I aged it. I think it turned out pretty good for my first try. I need to get your email address,it might be a little easier to talk. Does Kathy have it? If so,can I get it from her? I'm also on facebook not sure if you are too. Lisa:)

I did get into the forum but didn't get much of a chance to look around. It's been so busy this week I haven't had much of a chance to check it out. With the weekend coming I'm hoping to get on there. Great job on the needle punch. I'm going to take a look around for some kits to get me started. It just might keep my hands away from the chip bowl! LOL

Sure does, she told me about the forum. I tried to get on last night but didn't have much luck. I kept getting an error but I'm going to try again when I get a chance. Maybe I'll see you there!

I've heard it's a beautiful place. I was talking to homeonthehill last night, turns out we have couple of mutual friends! it's a small world.

I haven't met her in person. She noticed I had a comment regarding GooseDown Cottage and she sent me a note saying she shops there as well. What part of the US are you from? Lisa

Homeonthehill lives a little more than an hour away from me. We buy from the same store not far from my home(Small world). You are right her home is an insparation I just love how it looks in the pics. I live in a small town called Rothesay in New Brunswick,Canada.I am about an hour from the Maine border. I am planning a trip with a friend down to Sanford Maine we have heard there are a few Country stores down there. It's always nice to find different things.I printed off the free pattern from Tennessee Ridge Primitives and I'm going to give it a try. I have made rag quits so I can work my way around the basics of a sewing machine. I'll let you know how I make out. Have a great day!

Hi There, I love those boxes too! They were made by a local folk artist here in the Saint John Canada area. Her store is called Rusty Hinges she has the best stuff very primitive. Every year she has a yard sale and sells last years stock at 30% to 50% off. I have gotten some great thing there.

Thank you for the info on your americana rug. I sent a message to Lakeside.com but haven't heard anything back yet - it sure is cute. Found a similar one but it was over $200, yikes. Thanks again - look forward to sharing my home with you soon, hope you will enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed touring yours.

LOL I am the same way. But I am getting alot of inspiration from your home. We recently bought a modular home. They are nice but have absolutely no character or color for that matter(white walls) So its pretty much up to me to start from scratch. Any tips would be greatful.
