Hey Bubba, look at the pics I just uploaded today. I knew we should have gone to San Juan Capistrano when you were here last! It was a glorious day. Colleen kept saying "Its a good thing Clark isn't here. We would be here for hours." I'm sure you would have been in Photog Heaven.

Oh Clark, that is heartbreaking news about the burglary and theft of your cameras and computers. I am so sorry to hear of that. I know it's got to be upsetting both in the possessions lost and the invasion of your home. I know it's not the same and you probably have a deductible but I hope insurance covers most of the financial loss. I'm glad that you at least have your best work at saved elsewhere. What a crushing blow. I can relate to the WS addiction, as a matter of fact, Theresa (tfm446) has set up a joke type album for PAWS, People Addicted to Webshots. I'm in there and more people are added every day, LOL. Kidding aside, I have been neglecting things I should be doing and spending hours on WS every night and sometimes during the day. I've been so busy looking at photos and commenting that I'm not even uploading any of my own, and my unlearned Photoshop software is still calling my name! WS is going down hill, although I don't know it as well as a lot of you do since I have only been active since Jan/Feb of this year. I know Lois is enjoying herself over on Red Bubble and her work looks great. I will probably join so I can interact with former WS members but I don't know if I have any photos good enough to put on there myself. I hope you will keep in touch, my email address is the same as my username here, at aol(dot)com. It would be great if you'd give it to DJ and Lois too when you get a chance. Take care. Rachel

Clark, we miss you around here! Lois is AWOL too. And no DJ either since she's still busy with her new house. You must be super busy with your photography and sales! Yay for you! Stop by when you get a chance! Rachel

Hi, just wanted to let you know that all my photos from when I visited Oahu in November are finally all uploaded. Each day has its own album, I took a lot of pictures. I celebrated my birthday in Hawaii and thoroughly enjoyed every day I spent there. I feel like part of my heart now belongs to Hawaii and always will. My hope is that soon I may be able to move there. I also wanted to thank you for your suggestion on going to the Paradise Cove luau, I went and got a lot of great shots there as well. Thanks again, and I wish you well and envoy the fact that you are able to enjoy the Hawaiian culture and beauty every day :)

Clark, I am so thrilled to hear your news. That shot of the Arizona is a masterpiece and if you keep producing shots like that you will go far. Congratulaltions and all my best wishes for your future. Love the new name of your Website, suits you to a tee. I have not posted anything on webshots for months now. We are in the process of selling our present home and renovating the one that we are going to be moving into when this one sells. Sadly the market is very slow now. At any rate working, renovating and keeping this one spotless seems to take up all of my time. I do however post one picture a day to my site at www.headrick.aminus3.com I am finding that a very friendly uninstrusive site. But I still love my special friends at Webshots among whom you are counted!! hugs, Marion.

Part 2 - Well I've decided that I need the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. It's inexpensive and I've seen some nice shots posted by users on Amazon and other sites. I went to the Newport Aquarium yesterday with my kids and mom. I set my camera to 1600 ISO, flash off, aperture priority, (can't remember if I set anything else) but I was disappointed with my photos. I kind of realized when I was there that they probably wouldn't be any good since my biggest aperture I could get with any lens I have is f/3.5. The place was packed so no tripod and I'm not even sure if they allow them anyway. But that's ok, it was a learning experience and nothing that I was set on having great photos from. It wasn't like I was somewhere spectacular that I may never go to again. I've taken about 1100 shots with this camera so far, but none I'm excited about. I just got David Busch's new book about the XSi and I'm reading it now. Also got the Magic Lantern XSi DVD in the mail too. So with more time and practice, I should be doing much better by time I do go somewhere that I really care about getting great photos! Rachel

Ok, so I don't get "itimated" by other's photos, hee hee... of course it should be "intimidated".. . darn, and I always proofread before I post... I think I need chocolate ;-)

Wow Clark! That is so FANTASTIC! I am so pleased and excited for you! It's about time! I can only imagine the thrill of walking into a gallery or gift shop and seeing your own photography displayed for sale! :-D If you quit putting your best shots on WS, maybe you could still let your WS friends see them somehow... maybe with a big watermark on them or something. I'm glad you are entering that photo into Pop Photo's contest too! It should be a winner! I really wish my WS friends lived closer so we could go on some shoots together. It would be fun and I would learn so much. Maybe we need to have a Webshots photo expedition somewhere, heh... Dayton does have a camera club that I went to once years ago and I want to start going again but they don't meet in the summer. I think they start up again in September. Have you been to any photo workshops led by professional photogs? I haven't yet. There's going to be one in Columbus at the Franklin Park Conservatory in October and I'm thinking about signing up. My problem is that I lose my confidence and get intimated by other people's photography skills that are way better than mine. But I guess that's pretty silly, since I'd be going to learn and some of them have probably been doing this a lot longer than me. ~ I wrote too much, had to split my message...

... by the way, I LOVE your new quote!!!! Lordie, I'm filling up your message page today!! But the reason I took up the camera, that fateful day in August of last year, was to get some snaps of the mountain that I could use to start PAINTING again!!!! <laughing> ... I got stuck somewhere along the line, huh?

re POP FOTOG, that's exactly how I felt. A friend of mine who has a pro fotog friend, has been trying to get me to market my stuff. I think she kind of sticks her nose up at WS ... she says ... well she uses very colorful language that I'm not about to repeat here ... but basically that ... um ... playing .. around ... here is all well and good, but that I need to get out and start doing more with my pics. I'm in no way ready. I think until I can make ALL the buttons on my camera do what I want them to, and until I "get" composition a little better, I'd just be ... ahhh ... kidding myself. BUT YOU on the other hand, dear boy ... YOU are ready. She has given me an interesting idea or two. If you like, clip me your email address somewhere on an obscure photo ... I'll write back with some of her VERY good ideas, and will delete the note. Might as well get you off the WS dime NOW. Your time has come. NOT, however, that you'll be allowed to leave us completely, mind you!!!!!

Oh CLARK!!! I am THRILLED for you!!!!! This is SOOOO exciting!!! Yesssss!!!! Please, please keep me posted on all your adventures in the Real World!! I'm glad you're branching out into Pop Photog ... my FAVORITE photog mag!!! They don't sell it in my area so I've even been toying with the thought of a subscription. When I get my hands on a copy I slurp up every word in there!! I'll keep a watchful eye out for your shot on the front page!!! WHEEEEEEE!! Happy dance, happy dance!!!!!!! Big hugs ... Lois

Hey Clark, you once asked me to add some Bookmarks. I've been adding them since then and wondered if you ever remembered to come back and check. The first photos that I added I didn't put any comments on, but now I do. There should be a way to edit them after you already have added the photo, or is there that I just don't know about? If I want to later add a comment, I just delete the old one and then rebookmark the image with comments. Stop on by. You might see some you recognize. ;-)

'Gnarly' .....now there's a good word....Many thanks Clark for your congrats and kind words on my featured sports 'surfing' shot today. Very much appreciated. I'm glad they chose this one as it's one of my surfing favourites. Apologies for being an 'absent friend' lately, but overwhelmed with work (exam time). I don't seem to have any time to take photos anymore. either.. anyway when posting to Lois I noticed you're getting some new equipment...oooooohhhh whatcha gettin'??? ...do tell. all sounds very exciting....(I presume we're talking cameras here....or something MORE interesting??? he!he! Have a good weekend, take care, Lorraine

Hello Clark, I'm with Lois - ditto the last two sentences for me too! Well actually the whole paragraph! When are you gonna start selling some of these masterpieces... or have you already? They are definitely worthy! And that new USS Arizona photo is a big WOW!!!! Love the new quote in your profile! ~ Yes, it's depressing how much prices for everything are skyrocketing! Hope you can get your trip to Vegas, sounds like you've done well for yourselves in the past. Me, I'm too chicken to part with more than $50 on any of my three trips there. I've gone for other reasons and enjoyed every minute. The other parts of your trip sound fabulous. I love all three of those parks, especially Zion NP. Last time I went to the Grand Canyon, I only had a 110 film camera, so you know how long ago that was - I was just a skinny 21 year old...sigh... so long ago... ;-) I went to Zion and Bryce in 2002 with Mike and the kids and had a film P&S. We drove from Ohio to Colorado Springs (can you say extremely long and boring?) on a two week road trip (at least we had a minivan with a tv/vcr!) that included the above NPs as well as Mesa Verde, Dinosaur National Monument, Rocky Mountain NP and the very gorgeous scenery of Colorado and Utah. Wish I had a good camera back then. I don't even know where those photos are - in a box in the house somewhere! I should look for them. I might have some decent, not too "snapshoty" photos in the many rolls of film I took. I absolutely LOVE the western part of our country. I want to do another road trip like that but maybe fly this time and rent a car in Colorado perhaps, not drive on I-70 through the endless flat state of Kansas! Driving 1000 miles before you get to the glorious mountains was brutal! Alas, my vacation this year will only be to Chicago... if I'm lucky! Well I better scoot. Looking forward to more amazing work from you! Rachel

Clark ... I don't know HOW you can improve the magic that you continually pull from nature and your surroundings ... but it's good, I think, for even the very best of us (that be YOU, doncha know) to continually strive to improve in whatever field catches our fancy. Glad life is beginning to right itself again ... those times of confusion can be fun but exhausting!!! Always let me know when you've posted something new ... I am ever your devoted student and admirer. Lois
