Moved in already?? Are ya kiddin'?! The flooring's going down... no kitchen cupboards yet... probably won't have them before the move happens. I'll let ya know when the bed gets moved... that'll be when we spend our first night in there. It'll probably take me most of the summer, while Cory's out fishin', to get moved... just a little at a time, everyday, with this back! It'll be soooo nice to have a HOT shower and not have the toilet overflow every time it rains (you know it hardly EVER rains here... LOL!). Sounds like you had a great holiday weekend! I just can't even imagine a bonfire lasting that long! Better keep an eye on Lois' red spiked heels... 'specially in your condition right now! ...We've actually had record-breaking temps and the most gorgeous skies for over a week now!! Have had no connection interruptions!! BUT... it's been tooo nice to spend ANY time inside on the computer!! -DJ

Hi Clark! Well I ended up taking the 40D back to the camera store unfortunately. It was just too big and heavy for my hands. I decided to get the XSi instead and it immediately felt perfect in my hands, not too heavy and just the right size. I was also able to pick up the 70-300mm IS lens plus the wireless remote since the camera cost less. I hated giving up the features of the 40D and of course now there's a rebate so it's not that much more than the XSi, but it just wouldn't work out for me. I just got this feeling that I would tire of carrying it around (unless I was specifically just going out to shoot) and end up just using my point and shoot again for vacations, etc. I got the XSi last Tuesday and I haven't had much time time to take many photos yet. It's the end of the school year and there are a lot of things going on right now. My allergies are finally under control, yay! I took some shots over the weekend at some relatives' houses in rural Virginia but I wasn't that happy with a lot of them. I took them in the late afternoon/early evening and they seemed overexposed when I uploaded them. Of course, I have barely read the manual yet! Just wanted to experiment. I need to go out and try to get some nice shots of birds for this week's challenge. I look forward to seeing your entries. Hope you had a great weekend.

Hi Clark; Thank you so much for stopping by my San Francisco album and your nice comments. Isn't San Francisco just about everyone's favorite place to visit? We have always loved it there ever since we used to first go to visit my Grandmother. She lived in a hotel right on Powell St a block from Union Square. You know, I could not make the slideshow work on any of my albums, then I tried it on other people's as well and it didn't work there either. Perhaps Webshots is working on the system this afternoon. I do know it was working this morning. I suppose we will just have to hope for the best. I'll be back soon. ~Marjie

We are persevering!! It seems that almost nothing is cooperating! We got a bunch of stuff we needed barged to Sitka only to have it sit there for over a month because our mail boat went on the grid for a paint job... fish have arrived so Cory's had to go fishing... the building supply company in Sitka didn't return our calls for a couple of days (while I sat here in good weather waiting for them to call!) - I finally just faxed the order in... now I've been waiting for them to call with questions and to let us know what they don't have... the grocery order apparently wasn't received last week due to our in 'n out connections (lost my connection a couple of times while I was commenting on your shots yesterday too!)... at least I got some shots of an awesome fog bank from the porch yesterday while I waiting for calls... and then.. while I was shooting it... Cory's boat appeared headed for home! That was sooo cool! I'm trying to get them up but once again am running into trouble with the blues of the water 'n sky in the RAW shots! I think I may have just finally figured it out... Trying to get them uploaded but unless I stay up all night and upload, I can't afford the bandwidth! Thanks for asking about the house! Cory got the kitchen sink installed today! Yaaaaahooooooeeeeee!! -DJ

That sounds like so much fun!! I would love to hop on the superferry, but I am scheduled to work through Sunday. Thank you so much for thinking of me! Did you see the full moon last night? It rose over Haleakala and was so enormous out loud I was saying, to no one in particular as I was alone driving upcountry, oh my God! It was the size of a baseball in the sky surrounded by layers of deep purple and charcoal grey clouds drifting above and below. I had to concentrate to keep my eyes on the road, it was absolutely apocalyptic! And the sunset last night on Polo Beach was glorious! Shifting from deep silvery hues, to aquamarine blues to a beautiful gold and then to burnished bronze. With the many clouds it was so beautiful!!

Do you have Google Earth on your computer? If so look up Helelua Street, Nanakuli. We lived on the 3rd main road on the right. It looks like on the map there is a fence around the front of it now. So I don't think any of my plants or trees are left. I loved it there, I could go out and just pick breakfast off the trees. Thank you.

I was there over 20 years ago. HI, is a very lovely place and an even better place to have a camera. You have captured a lot of it beauty and brought back some good memory of being there. Thank you for the reminder of how lucky I was to live there, if only for a short time. Enjoy the sunshine and smell of the flowers!!!!! http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/1038336091015002998YjuFdE?vhost=good-times This was my yard!!! I am sure it is no longer there.

This morning the vog was so heavy the sun appeared as so obscure in the early morning sky and my eyes are burning abit. The air is heavy, dense and thick and I received another early warning health advisory from Maui County Civil Defense Agency in my inbox as the air quality on Maui is so affected by the volcanic activity on the Big Island. It seems the sky is clearing abit now, however, it still appears very hazy.

Was it really that bad on O'ahu? I didn't even notice the vog on Maui today! It was warm and humid with blue skies, a slight breeze and many clouds. Which way are the tradewinds blowing?

Hi Hi Hi Clark!!! Guess what??? No, GUESS!! Ok, ok, I'll tell ya ... that little photo of mine of the azalea gardens that you liked was featured photo in Outdoors-Scenery & Nature on 5/12/08! I didn't even see it ... someone kindly pointed it out to me!! So, YAY!!! I think i know who to thank for this!!!! Thank you thank you!!! Wheeeee!! And yes, I did the Happy Dance. I'm really going to have to buy some red shoes one of these days ... I probably look pretty silly Happy Dancing wearing strappy, 3 inch heeled, black patent leather pumps ... with red socks. But it's the thought that counts, right?? YAY! Thanks again, sweetie, for believing in me!! Big East Coast hugs ... Lois

Hi Clark, I just bought the 40D but haven't had a chance to use it yet. My allergies have been so bad lately I can't be outside for any amount of time. Argh! I hope the pollen count eases up soon. Looks like a wonderful camera but now that I've held it quite a bit at home (bought the Magic Lantern instructional DVD), I'm concerned that it might be too heavy for me? It weighs 26.1 oz (body only), or 29.8oz with battery according to another website, compared to the XSi 16.8 oz (body only). Not sure how much the kit 17-85mm lens adds to the weight. On a tripod it won't matter but of course I won't always be using one. Everything seems great except for the weight. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake! Help!

Cory loved this primrose shot... maybe you will too? http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2507525700046095852wLroAt It's very small... I laid on the grass... got it just as the sun went over the mountains... drama lighting... and a bit of gaussian blur for softness..
