Brain was a little foggy last night, those late nights will do that! Just to clarify, obviously I know you know there's no sand around here... meant to say "as if I see sand very often!" Unlike some people... ;-)

Just had a virtual wonderful time visiting Hawaii! And it didn't cost me a thing! Keep sharing paradise, Clark! ~~ Also, belated thanks for the info on the tripods and the monopod. That monopod sounds cool, I'll have to check it out. I guess I'll stick with my heavy tripod for now since I already own it (the Slik U212) and maybe sometime in the future get a lighter one. I do like it, it's just heavy and bulky to carry around. And Sand??? You think I might actually be using my tripod in SAND? LOL, as if there's any around here... :p

Hello Clark! Hope you had a good weekend! If you get time, I have my new flower album up http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/563155807lizWMM ~~ My 11 yo daughter just got a little Nikon Coolpix L11 for her birthday so I took her with me. She was pretty good but wanted to keep moving, not get multiple angles and closeups like I did. We went Friday evening and the place was really crowded and there had just been a wedding. Lesson learned - go during the weekday by myself if possible! The tulips should be blooming soon so I'll visit again later this week. Then I can take my time. Maybe I'll have a new camera by then! Have a great week! Rachel :-)

Here I am again, referencing the BLUE car; yes, avoiding reflections of us was an issue, but somehow, I managed to do it. ... Thank you also for your comment on the album in general. The fellows who own these cars are as proud of them as most of us are of our 'kids'! ... Warm hugs, Judy

Thanks, Clark, for your comment on my "Bel-Aire" in the "Thursday Night Car Club" album. After losing our son, we needed some diversion, and the old cars were a 'breath of fresh air'. ... My Dad had a '58 Chevy convertible when Mike & I married in 1959. Getting into the back seat of a two-door car in a wedding gown wasn't the best option, so my 'boss' who lived next door, lent my Dad his white '59 Cadillac. I don't know if my Dad ever forgave me, but me, in my gown, arrived at the church, safe and secure! <grin>

Hi Clark! Thank you for your congratulations and comments on my "Pharaoh statue at a sunset, Egypt" POTD! It was a great surprise to find my second POTD so thanks again for backing me! I was on a business trip to Penza - it is 600 km away from Moscow, so it took a long time to answer you. Keep in touch! From Russia with love, Alexander.

I simply cannot EVER get the blue right on my RAW shots... either the hue or the saturation... I don't know if I'm going to have buy Nikon's proprietary software for RAW or what... see... Nikon has it's own RAW format... called NEF... not sure if that's the problem but I just can't get it right in Lightroom or Adobe Bridge... -DJ

BWAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAA HAAAAAA HAA!!! Gosh I hope you weren't serious! Mail them! To Hawaii!! BWAAAAAAA HAAAAAA HAAAAA HAAA!!! Snort, Snort!! It took over a month for my brother there to get his Christmas present last year! Nooooo... I don't think that'll work... Yeah... you wouldn't mess with a thing!! he he Except to maybe bookmark a bunch of your shots! BTW... I bookmarked another one of yours the other day... I shoulda done it long ago... thought I had... It has dawned on me that you may be saying that I had better spend more time editing and less time uploading?!... Get them edited and mailed to you! Via the halfway-around-the-world method!! Ohhhhh! Toooo funny! .....It seems like the bandwidth meter is being more honest since I downloaded my own meter! ...maybe I CAN DO IT! I look like the seal balancing the ball on his nose, on the teeter totter, on a ball... -DJ

Ummmmm.... speakin' of underexposed.... nevermind EVEN bothering to look at that album... I think every shot in there is underexposed... THAT's what I get for doing my editing late at night... AND in this dark cabin... can't wait to get in the new BRIGHT home!! Sheeze... I guess I don't have time to redo that album right now... I'm trying to just get my stuff up there so you can all see it... rather than spending ANY time editing... probably a bad decision... who knows... ONLY the SHADOW KNOWS!! ;) -DJ
said seawitchinak
Tooo underexposed!! What're ya talkin' 'bout?! Who told you that?!! No they weren't! It must be your screen!!! ...'n much better than YOU???! WHAT have you been drinking lately?! That's crazy talk, that is!! I'm gonna have to slap ya into reality if you don't stop that! Don't make me do it!! BTW- Check it out! We had some pretty awesome blue skies on March 28th and 29th... You'll see why we stay here... The really blue skies were on the 29th... towards the end of the album... http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/563138459DVqjgC -DJ

Hi Clark!!! Thanks so much for your note on Fire In The Sky!! It was originally a vertical which included our chandelier ... but I thought if I played with it long enough I could get it to go horizontal without too much loss of detail. Glad you approved ... you who are, of course, "King of the Sunsets" ... if you like those crazy colors, then I know I'm doing o-tay!! I have tons more shots of that sunset, of course, but they're so bizarre, I 'll have to put them up in the "photography experiment" category!! haha!! (Which, as everything I do right now is experimental, isn't exactly a stretch!!) Thanks again for stopping by!!! Hugzzzzz ... Lois

Hey Clark, That was some great advice you gave to Terrie about her bubble photo. Webshots should be paying you as you contribute more to Webshots then some of hier paid staff. Did you see the photo of the baby reaching it's hand outside the rain soaked plastic cover on it's buggy? It oculd be one of the winners. Randy

Hi Clark, Thank you for the comments on my 'Bubble' shot. I took that photo two years ago (that is my niece). I pulled it from my reserve photos. Until you mentioned it, I didn't notice the nostril. Ha ha!!!! That is sooo funny!!!! Now its all I see. I have a couple others that are similiar. I'll check to see if I have a better photo. Best regards. Terrie

In between bandwidth problems, snow, outside playing, outside weeding, back out from weeding, more snow... testing bandwidth... socked in - no access (not EVEN snow that day!)... eye, neck, back, shoulder problems... spring cleaning... more neck, back, shoulder problems from that!... Found out I have unlimited bandwidth from 8pm to 2am... BUT... now it's light at like 5am so I've been going to bed earlier... just don't know what to do about this bandwidth thing... You're gonna fall over... are you sitting down?! They ONLY allow 1GIG per week!! For SEVEN days!! AND I found out that they start throttling down our speed when we have under 200MB remaining... Well! Sheeze! Guess WHAT?! I always have less than that left! Soooooooo.... That's why this soooo unbearably slow for me!! I've been testing... to see if it is even possible for me to do this... There are things like reading the local newspapers, all of my shopping... for food and EVERYTHING, checking the weather, checking the webcams for weather that is coming... that I HAVE to do on here... don't know if I can afford to do Webshots... Am in a quandry!! -DJ

Clark, I just added my two cents to the blog about the CC entries. Ok, must get to bed, it's really late here!

Ok, so the camera I should buy is... let's see... let me guess... the Canon 40D? LOL, I can tell you love your Canon camera! Sounds like a winner. I still have only been researching online so I need to get out to my local camera shop and scope it out in the next few days. I really want a longer lens than just the 55mm because of my son's sports. He's running track right now so obviously I'd like to capture the action and I can't always get up close. I'm thinking around 150mm or 200mm maybe? What different focal length lenses do you have?
said rachel7119
Hi Clark, I also feel the same way as you do on the CC. Then I open the pictures and someone always seems to have something I consider better than mine. I must say though, you do have some good entries. Sometimes you can see it is a matter of personal taste that tips the win to someone else. The human factor. Perhaps if it was member choice the results would be different. But I have a feeling even that would be tipped in favor of some. Good luck in the future CC. Don't give up. Maybe one day? Jim

Hello Clark, well that San Diego album is definitely worth admiring! Got a little busy with family stuff so it took me a few days to get here. Re the bookmarks, I had just recently figured out what that was for. I had been just bookmarking the person when I saw stuff I liked so I'll have to start marking individual photos... I just checked out yours, so I'll have to further investigate the photos I haven't seen before. I'd have to agree with all of them. So many wonderful photographers on Webshots! Thanks so much for all your encouragement and advice. I really appreciate it. Now I just have to figure out what camera I'm going to buy in the next few weeks or so. It's a tough decision! I'm impulsive on small purchases but on big ones, it takes me a long time! I was thinking of a Canon but Randy has suggested the Olympus Evolt E510 kit with two lenses (http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-Digital-Stabilization-14-42mm-40-150mm/dp/B000NVXF30) since you get a lot for the money and all the reviews I've read on various sources seem good, so I'm leaning in that direction. My budget is $1500 right now. What do you think of IS on the camera body versus the individual lenses? I know those Canon lenses with IS are expensive.
