Thank you, Clark, for taking the time to comment on my POTD in News. My daughter Amy will be coming home from Kuwait 2/16/2008. Then she and her husband (also Navy) will be heading to Spain for three years! Blessings, Countess Paparazza, Oregon, USA

My dear friend ... I'm with DJ ... also choked up. You ARE the sweetest guy!! I don't think I deserve such praise, but will gladly and humbly accept if you indeed were able to go forward through a dark day with a little extra sunlight on your shoulder! Many, many thanks for your thoughts ... but you know what? If my words bring a smile and can turn around a "... Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" (if you have kids, you'll laugh at that quote) ... then take a minute to remember one thing: that one picture is worth A THOUSAND words!! And YOUR pictures ... those expressions of your soul that ooooze into that camera's lens of yours and magically find their way onto the screens of Webshots lovers all over the world ... YOUR IMAGES are worth thousands of my humble words ... and that YOU uplift ... inspire ... and generally turn around ooodles of VERY bad days EVERY day!!! So ... it is MY pleasure and honor to return the compliment to you ... a thousand times. Very best regards ... Lois

Aloha Clark! Thank you so much for your wonderful note on my collection of the Yukon Quest!! It was so thrilling to actually be there and see this fantastic epic event! It was so cold I couldn't describe it, but oh my God! I had such fun! An album feature now would be fantastic as it is a current event going on right now! These athletes will be in the deep cold wilderness of Alaska and Canada for two weeks! Their survival training, skills and abilities will help them survive an extremely deep cold 1000 mile trip to the Yukon. I can only imagine how magnificent it must be to be out alone with my own team of dogs beneath the brilliant skies of Alaska traveling through some of the most pristine, extraordinarily beautiful and wild land on earth. They will see some of the most amazing sights! I imagine fantastic Aurora Borealis to gaze at in wonder in the night skies, surprise sightings of magnificent Bull Moose, wolves, and all manner of wild animals as they are traveling the corridors of the frozen rivers, snowclad forests and tundra on their quest. I would love to travel with them, it would be the trip of a lifetime! I have many more images of the teams and their wonderful dogs, the canine athletes who are the stars of the Yukon Quest, as well as the spectators and volunteers. It was a challenge for it was so cold, I left my truck running, idling for over two hours as the fluids and engine will freeze. I have two sets of keys and locked it. Everyone else did as well which accounts for so much ice fog, exhaust and smoke in the images. I continuously returned and replaced my camera battery with a warm one, and some of the images are very noisy. I am trying to complete the album today. Thank you very much for your kindness and wonderful encouragement on my photojournalism Clark, I braved the deep cold not only to witness the great Yukon Quest, but also to record it photographically to share here with all my friends. I am so happy you enjoy it! Mahalo my dear friend! I will be on Maui in two weeks! Sharon

Hi Clark, just wanted to thank you for the message that you left us in our 'WS' Blog, we are honored by your kind praise of our photographic skills. It is so exciting to find so many others are enjoying our photos, and we're meeting so many talented and kind people who enjoy the same hobby of photography. Thank you also for your well wishes for my recovery, now I have to behave myself and when we go out to take photos my camera will have to be placed on a tripod (I've always held my camera to take photos so the tripod thing will be a challenge for me to get used to), and since we will be headed down to Homer next month to photograph the eagles that winter there, I will behave and let my husband set my camera up on a tripod so that I can take pictures. Well, I'm headed back off to view one of your albums (I was having issues earlier as I kept getting the proxy error when I would attempt to open a different photo, so I decided to give up for a bit then venture back again). Take Care. ~Deb & Rick~

Hey Clark, many, many thanks, muchas gracias for your congratulations .... to say I'm overwhelmed is an understatement! you're so kind and generous in your support.....I wasn't at work today, (National Mexican holiday), so only discovered all the emails and the POTD late afternoon. A friend of mine was a sailor on the Battleship Missouri just a few years before it was decommissioned, if that's the correct terminology.

The funny thing about your censored message is I think I know exactly what you said! Sheer genius!

Hmmmm... strange! I've received comments on my submissions... EVEN got this one from Rod which I entered somewhere around 1030adt this moring, but I changed my mind when I remembered my plan from the previous evening... What an airhead! CRS! http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2284031250046095852DohNfo Anyway... last night I was looking at the backup I had done of my original WS Dazzling Daybreaks shots and altho it's not perfectly perfect, it's my favorite... and then I went back thru all of my digital photos and knowing that I never got up early for the sunrise in all my old film shot days... I realized that THIS was my very first sunrise shot EVER... Making it EVER so much more dear to me! Since no one else EVEN seems to know that I entered it... Here it is, my favorite sunrise of my sunrises.. http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2804635780046095852GzebBo Just realized that Rod may have stumbled upon that shot after commenting on my other entry in that album. DUH!! Wake up! I think I'm preoccupied -sp?- because I've got to go make pumpkin pies! -DJ

Are you having problems with the blog Sunrise Challenge Display page not showing any new entries since Jan 31, 2008 1654pdt?? I tried to send a message to WS but when I clicked send, it said the page didn't exist. So I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

And, as I understand, only jpg's CAN be shown on the web. I have read that TIFF is the way to go for printing. Tried it just a couple of times and I was impressed. Do you save your RAW's only as TIFF's? Or do you save them as DNG's, then convert to TIFF for printing?
said seawitchinak
AND nowwwww I know what pixelating is!! I am shooting in RAW and now I know another really great reason why I am doing so! Thank you so much Clark! -DJ

Whoooooooaaaaaaaaa! I'm flabbergasted at my place of honor in your bookmarks! You have such a way with words! Mercuric! Garsh! Golly Gee Willakers! ...and now I just wandered down to Sharon's message and I see that it SNOWED on Haleakala!!!! OMG!! That is astoundingly astonishing! ...had to go over to Sharon's board to read about your success! That is so wonderful!! Really, really GREAT news! I was going to ask you if you did your own printing... I just couldn't be happier for you! Gonna have to celebrate tomorrow! Are ya gonna dance on the beach in the gorgeous sunset?! I would! Cheers! -DJ

It snowed on Haleakala!!!!! Oh my God! That is so serendipitous!!! Congratulations on the success of your photography marketing Clark!!!! I am so excited for you!! It is fantastic!!

Thank you Clark. I am so honored to be counted amongst your top 20. There are some pretty awesome photographers in that group. I will be so happy when spring peeks around the corner again. The snow and dreary weather here is getting pretty tiresome. Only 53 where you are. That is cool, but everyone, everywhere, or at least the Western Hemisphere seem to be in the grip of Old Man Winter. Well anyway, warm hugs, Marion

53F is very cool for the islands. I can imagine it was very surprising and most unusual!!

Hi Clark, obviously photography isn't your only talent, you really do have a way with words as well! You always say just the right things. Your comments about your stats surprised me, I thought that all of us cold people would be scrambling to search for just a little glimpse of Oahu right now! Roxanne
