Dear Clark, thank you for your wonderful comment. "Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawai'ian Christmas Day. Thats the island greetings that we send to you from the land where palm trees sway. Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright. The sun will shine by day and all the stars at night! Mele Kalikimaka is Hawai'i's way to say Merry Christmas to you..." ... I can't think of a better greeting as I sit here in Florida in shorts, shirt and sandals! It's so funny how friends of our from Hew England continually ask if we don't miss the cold and snow. Our answer is always, "No." They seem to think Florida is the only place that has a warm Christmas. ... DUH! ... Do have a wonderful holiday season in your balmy paradise! ... From both of us, Judy & Mike

Clark; Thank you for your kind comments on my photos of "Horeshoe Bend". I don't know if it's you or I who is a little confused but the shot was taken from the rim of the Colorado Gorge as it cirles around and down to Marble Canyon just south of Page Arizona. This spot is not photographed very often as it takes a bit of a hike through soft sand up and down a long hill to get to it, and it is not well signed and has no "official viewing area" There are no railings or concrete to walk on, just the sandstone and hopefully a sense of where things become dangerous. Anyway, here is hoping you and yours have a very happy holiday season. Chuck Collet, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia Canada

One of Laura's photographs from our visit to the Yorktown Battlefield last week has been selected as the "Just Photography Weekly Pick" on the photo sharing website... Just-Photography.net (link below). Her photograph is of another photographer using a large format camera to photograph the battlefield while perched atop one of the British Redoubts. We just joined this site last week and already two members from there have joined Webshots too after seeing some of our photos... pretty cool!!! Take care and stay in touch. Thanks for your comments about the World War 2. My late father was one of those who served in the Fareast when Philippines was under the United States. I was a few months old when the war broke out. Before I retired this year as an Oncology nurse, I was an active member of the California Nurses Association( CNA).I joined a lot of our rallies including of those "that the Iraq soldiers should be well taken care of when they come home. Happy Holidays, sally

Hey there Clark. A huge thanks to you for the visit. Thanks for the time and for making the response a quick one, I really appreciate it. After reading your response, I think I'll continue with the diagrams, at least with some pics. Perhaps some members will find it interesting, others may be tempted to branch out and try flash or strobe lighting and others who may have equipment might even give it a try. I really like the idea of throwing in a pic in the bottom or top portion to show the layout -- great call. I hope you and yours are getting the final touches to Christmas down. This really is my favorite time of the year. I extend the fondest wishes to you and your bride and son and others you love and care for this Christmas season. Thanks for your always continued support and friendship. If you ever get down this way let me know, the Shiner Bock is on me. -Brent

Thanks Clark. (I always want to call you Clarkth, tee hee). I am assuming that Mele Kalikimaka means Merry Christmas. Have only been to your beautiful islands once in my life, so not too familiar with the lingo, but if that is what it means, then Mele Kalikimaka right back to you, or as we say here in Canada, Merry Christmas, eh!! Seriously, I hope that you and Jan and your family have a blessed Christmas Season....Hugs, Marion

Hey Clark! First let me say I like your new user pic. Your grandson is a great looking feller. Is he telling you that your dof is too wide for this shot?? lol. Clark, if you get a chance could you visit my Lighting Test Shot album, specifically page 2? I've begun to add diagrams explaining the lighting on a shot. I thought you might find this interesting. I also wonder if this is a tool that others could find useful, or if it really is just a waste of time. Anyway, I sure would like to hear your comments. See you around my friend...-Brent.

Clark I agree with your comments about the military past and present. My sister was stationed on Ford Island in the early '80s and one of the highlights of my life was visiting her in Hawaii. She retired as Command Master Chief of the Pentagon after 20 years on duty and is my hero to this day. Aloha and Merry Christmas. Judy of North Carolina

Aloha Clark ... yes, your photos DID cause me to grin, but I laughed at myself when I finally realized I was commenting on your original postings and not the NEW family shots. Oh well, it was fun meeting your family! ... Christmas hugs to you and Jan, Judy

Clark, Are you really in the zero dimension? "The Zero Dimension is the point, the infinitely small place holder. It exists not in space, but in time only. It is the moment between past and future, the subject, zero. It constitutes potentiality, the four space dimensions constitute actuality. The Zero Dimension is the home of Natural Numbers. The subject point, the moment, is Zero, pure Awareness. Its numbers are the natural numerals." Source: http://www.fractalwisdom.com/FractalWisdom/zero.html

Aloha Clark! Thank you so much for your wonderful notes. I am happy you are enjoying the Alaska winter scenics, I especially enjoy your notes on the snowmachine shot. That was so great!! I saw them moving through the permafrost forest over the frozen peat bog and ponds where I had taken many of my sunset images this summer. So I drove about two miles down the way and waited for them! I know the moose trail leading to the small hill up onto the roadway and intuitively knew they would probably come up over it, and so I waited and watched... and they did! I had also been walking through the forest along the Chena River taking some shots in the available deep blue winter light, for comparisons to go along with my summer and autumn scenics. And I came upon fresh wolf tracks in the snow. So, although I am armed when I am out in the wilderness, there are four or five wolves in this small pack, and so I returned to my truck. I waited for a while, just sitting there listening to and enjoying the silence. There are many problems with wolves in the North Pole area right now. They have called a town meeting because it is so unusual. No one in this area remembers such a bold wolf pack who enters communities in the night and approaches homes, they are killing and consuming pet dogs on their property! And while I am a wildlife advocate, many here would never consider time or expense in live trapping and relocating them. They will simply eliminate them and collect their fur, a thought which makes me sad. On a lighter note, I saw the Christmas in Ice event in North Pole over the weekend, and that was much fun! The lighted ice sculptures were so pretty in the night sky. It was especially fun to watch the children slide down the colourfully lighted ice slide gleefully!! I am happy to hear you had a wonderful holiday in Georgia with your beloved family and friends Clark!! And I love your profile image, it is darling! I'll return tomorrow, it is late. And so I wish you a wonderful evening!! Sharon
