thanks for the Oahu tips. I was there a few weeks back and took so many pictures it's going to take me weeks to get them all reviewed to see which ones I will place on webshots. I went to the Paradise Cove luau and LOVED it, thanks for the suggestion! I know I only just left, but I want to go back already. It's getting colder and colder and winter is on its way and boy I would love to be in Oahu instead ;) Thanks again. I'll let you know when my pics are uploaded and you can let me know how you like them.

Clark, thanks for the help, I hope you have a safe trip to Georgia. I must tell you that I do find strobes a bit confusing. When I use to use halogen or tungsten static lights, we would scrim, box, bounce, refract, diffuse paper -- and most importantly, move some distance from the subject to get softer light. So that was my thinking with strobes too! I read an article on the 3x1 and 5x1 fill/main lamp ratio. The author (the lighting guru at betterphoto.com) says that studio strobe when using diffusion (i.e softbox) with the fill and main properly placed and elevated, will give a nice balanced appeal without the boring flat glamour look. Of course the main and fill are stopped differently. The main a full stop in the 3x1 and 3 stops in the 5x1 The author says that distance of the lights should actually be close to subject?? I would love to hear what your brother-in-law has to say. Gosh, were is a good old Lowell light kit when you need it!! ;) Be safe on your trip my friend. -Brent

Clark, you da man!! Thanks for the time and for the very good critique -- this is so appreciative. You know having worked in television, I would have thought to told her to apply some powder. This will become a consistent in future shoots, again, thanks. I agree about the pores too, but not sure how to remedy, other than back away from the key light for sculpturing and use a nice fill blend. I did use a softbox as my primary and could have soft boxed the other light and used the clam shell technique. I know that a rule is to use sculpture lighting mainly for men and not women, but there's got to be a way to infuse this and still project femininity with drama in the shot.... if it calls for it. Back to the drawing board! Again, thanks my friend. -Brent

Hi Clark, Thanks for the invite to view your finished album. I will look it over tomorrow as I am about to take my oldest son to his Royal Rangers (like cub scout) program. This morning was an amazing sunrise complete with a wonderful pillar. But I was driving my UPS truck without a camera, not even our cell phone. I have added a few new shots, especailly to my fun & fab fall colors album. YOu should take a look at the ones in there with the fence, shadows... Randy

You've got me mapping..."The Hoffwyl/Broadfield Plantation is just north of Brunswick Georgia on Highway 17. This is like stepping back in time one hundred and fifty years. Clark from O'ahu." http://gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.aspx?LocationID=48&s=0.0.1.5 We'll keep this Plantation in mind for a time when we stop in Brunswick on a trip to or from our daughter's in NJ. Thanks, Clark!!!

Guess who? :D ... You mentioned chiggers in regard to the Spanish Moss. I suppose hiking around in the woods with the moss hanging all around you might be a different 'thang' than just looking up at it, right? *smile*

Gee, I'm back again re: your comment on my "Chinsegut Manor House" album. You wrote: "It has transported me back about thirty years to my time in North Florida. Thank you for stirring those wonderful dormant recollections and thoughts." ... Now, knowing you'll be here in FL & GA in a couple of weeks to see your grandchildren makes me excited for you and your wife. Have a SAFE trip and a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. ... Judy

Dear Clark, I'm tickled that you liked my Pioneer Day album. We had such a wonderful time that day, we're hoping to attend another one on Dec. 1st in Floral City - hopefully with Carol & Henry [albertsville]. Getting outside in this beautiful weather at this time of year is a Florida BONUS, as you well understand! ... Warm FL hugs, Judy

Clark, your comment was so very nice -- to the point of completely leaving me speechless and humble. I am so glad that you do enjoy the pictures that I post here. For me, it is a lot of fun here at WS, and as you said, inspirational at times to look at the images of others. My friend, the things that really bring about a sense of awe in me, is first the amazing handiwork of our creator. The question becomes what would be of any of our pictures if it weren't for His palette? And then awe can most genuinely be seen and known in the gift that is in friendship. Thank you for that, it is a gift and one that means a great deal to me. See ya around my friend, Brent.
