Hi Clark, I just looked at your albums and loved them! I just got back from the "Arctic Circle" with National Geographic where we tagged "Polar Bears" and enjoyed the beautiful Glaciers, IceBergs and other animals before Global Warming takes them away. I hope you enjoy the Album and pass it on to your friends and family! Lauryn/Charlotte, NC, USA
A report was left on my Webshots message forum from Shirley on the Webshots member 'STASHANDPOOHBEAR' ~ This member's user name is all uppercase letters. I dropped the user name 'stashandpoohbear' into the Webshots browser search and found this link. ~ http://www.webshots.com/search?query=STASHANDPOOHBEAR&new=1&source=chromeheader ~ There are 186 results at this moment. And I immediately recognise them. I see many of my own and my featured Sun Pillar is the first one to catch my eye and I see as well many others which are stolen! Please peruse the images for your own, and if you find your own, click on it to go to his/her album, then after you leave a message of protest on his/her page, mouse over on the right where you will see the red hyperlink which is the Violation Reporting Tool and flag the page reporting this member to Webshots Customer Support for plagiarism and copyright infringement. And flag the pages of the other members you know whose stolen images are posted there as well please!! Thank you so much! Sharon

Oh!! And I was going to ask you on your beautiful Hawai'i album feature disappearing from the Most Downloaded and Most Viewed, did you edit your text, remove or add an image? If so, that is why it disappeared! It happened to me as well with my Spirit of Delight feature and the Sun Pillar homepage POTD, which was featured Most Downloaded Most Viewed in Outdoors, and Outdoors Fall Scenics channels. I added an image, uploaded it to that collection, and Poof! It was gone from the channels, it was not even in the archives!! I sent an email to Caroline, one of the editors with CNET and inquired. She explained to me that once an album is featured, if we touch it, edit text, add or remove an image, it changes the status and moves it to the New category! I explained to her that I did not realise this, and if I had I would not have touched my album and requested if she could restore it to it's previous status. And the response was almost immediate, it reappeared!! I still do not understand why. It seems it should be based on the numbers, and if we edit it should not make a difference. Also, there are many discussing the manipulation of channel features. This is a subject I find to be astonishing! A friend, who is well known in this community claims to have discovered how to manipulate the algorithm system to feature their own work, and I can tell you I am stunned with this news. Are there members on this site who are actually doing this? Sharon

Aloha Clark ~ Everywhere else you have voiced your concerns on this site they have been deleted? Are you serious? I will always offer you a forum to speak out and voice your concerns my dearest friend!! Yes, I do understand how you feel, as I feel the same, and I can tell you I was shocked when I learned how many problems exist on this site. Remember my commentary in my One Million Views dedication of my reluctance to upload my images for so long while I have been a premium member since 2003, and only began building my collections in December 2006? Yes? Well, this is the very reason why!!! And now that it has manifested itself to be a reality, I am not quite sure of how to proceed. I do believe that through our determination to speak out and confront the plagiarists and photo thieves, we will make a difference, but it seems we will never be able to stop it, for we do not have the support of our site management and the problem is so enormous! They need to install security software for right-click protection immediately, and all these feeds and streaming hyperlinks freak me out!! This site is wide open!! It always has been, and I would not be surprised if it always will be! Every issue, concern and inquiry I submitted to the Editors on the Webshots Blog and in the speak out on the survey to American Greetings has gone unanswered!!! That does not make me happy to be ignored by our Editors when we support this site!! I have collected personal email addresses for these people in management, and will campaign to them personally. You do have my private email address as well, and I have not shared your private email address with anyone! If there is anything you would like to discuss off the servers, please feel free to send me an email! Mahalo A nui loa e lokahi my dearest friend Clark! Sharon

Oh! And on my note below, you won't believe it! It was the webmaster herself who pinched my image from my albums here and uploaded it on her website!! ahahaha!! Astonishing! It is now removed at last. Wow! That was a fiasco!

Good Morning, Clark; I have been away too long, but hear that you are going public and professional with your photos. I am so happy for you and looking forward to seeing your website. I do hope that you will let all of us know when you are up and running. I think that your photos are outstanding and wish you the best of success. Also, I have responded to all of the hullaballoo over the AG buy-out and here is my response. Yesterday was a very busy day for me, so I am just getting to my messages here at WS, but not without already reading the blog and all of the hallaballoo over AG buy-out. I read nearly every message there and saw that many people were very upset to say the least. Quite honestly, I am not too concerned because what you are reading in that disclaimer is actually legal wording designed to protect American Greetings from us sueing them. I believe that it is very standard wording and needs to be expected for our photos to be open to the public as they are. It does NOT mean that they will take our photos to use on cards, mugs or whatever for their profit. Also, that word "non-exclusive" is a very important word in our favor. They are NOT taking away our rights to our own photos, simply publishing them for the whole world to see and for that they must protect themselves. This is very standard wording. If anyone wants to get upset, they might think about entering photography contests. There, you do almost always sign away your own rights to that particular photo. Most people don't know that. Also, just being on Webshots gives us exposure that we would not otherwise have and I for one have gotten several people interested in buying my photos. You would never give anyone exclusive rights to your photo unless they make it worth your while. I have the greatest confidence in American Greetings and feel that they will honor us and our efforts. Have a great week-end, Clark and I hope you have a wonderful trip to the mainland. Hugs,Marjie

Oh! And be sure to check out the hyperlink 'Links We Love', 'Shot of the Day', that is where my image was posted and first appeared without my authorization. On "Links We Love" under 'The Arts and Music' there I found the webmaster's name! Perhaps through them I may get a response! http://ruthieonart.com/default.aspx

ahahaha!!! LOL I really want a clear answer to my question on the blog, so I am checking back often to see if there is a response, and I saw you post almost simultaneously with me! We are in sync! Did you check out AG's website? The images in many of the catergories are pretty, but some are awful, especially the Hawai'i images are poor quality and sloped horizons. I really want to know the source of their images, and if they are our parent company, and ours is a free site, it only stands to reason our images will be their source. I don't like it Clark! Also, an unknown member left a comment for me yesterday on one of my images uploaded on another site, which I had to register with to leave a comment on my own photo inquiring who this member is who uploaded my image without my consent. It is a simple shot of blue and clear glass marbles and glass stones, but even so it is mine! And there has been no response from that member. The interesting and disturbing thing is that along with my image, there is a hyperlink to my profile homepage here on Webshots!!!! That really disturbs me! Here is the link ~ http://www.goodnewsnow.com/display/story/5213

Hi Clark. Thanks for the visit and the enquiry as to how I am. I am as fine as frog's hair and I ask you have you ever seen a hair on a frog? See, I am really fine. I have missed you too. Seems you haven't been around much lately and I hear you are going on a trip. I expect you will come back with wonderful pictures and I look forward to seeing them. How are things with you? Somewhere I heard that you are having some of your pictures professionally produced. Are they for sale?? I think Brent will do beautifully. He has such marvelous pictures. There are some really great photographers in my circle of WS friends. Did I tell you that two of my pictures have been chosen to go in the Credit Union's yearly calender? That's where I work ...the Credit Union and they are paying me for it, so I guess that is as close to pro as I have gotten. Have a wonderful day...hugs, Marion

Clark, one other question, is your wife's name Jan or is that shortened for Janis? I call my wife Jan, but I shorten it for Janis. I was just wondering if besides sharing the name Clark(e) if our beautiful brides have the same name. -Brent

Thanks for the visit Clark. I too have shaky hands. I struggle big time with my 70-200. I wonder if it is a sign of getting old my friend? At least we are getting there together. See you around.

Hi Clark: thanks for the bit of info on the Hawaiian hand signal..yes you never know where different expressions come from--or how they come about...I have come across a site that explains some of the everyday expressions and there origins--some are a riot..thanks again and come back often and visit my albums

Dear Clark - you 'blew me away' with your explanation of the Byoda image and I'm a bit embarrassed that I mentioned the 'cant'. You are a marvel and I commend you for your aim to conquer! "Photography is my way of saying "Yes! I can do that!" ... and you do it WELL, my friend. ... You must be getting excited about your trip to FL & GA; can you bear to leave Paradise? ... Thanks, Clark, for sharing! ... Judy
