Clark, I do have a question about my Corpus shots. You pointed out that the water there is usually gray. I agree, in fact many of my pics have that brackish look to them. I'm wondering if storm surge can have a cleansing affect? Remember, I'm a desert rat -- thus the foolish question. I probably have a dozen shots from one particular area on a day where there was a severe storm moving in. The water on my RAW's are truly blue, no touch-up. Anyway, I was just wondering if the WX could have had a part, it does seem like an anomaly for the Gulf of Mexico. Please keep me posted on your own venture into the commercial world of photography. I would really like to see your website. When you think you are ready for visitors will you send me the link please? By the way, if you have that drop dead shot that is loaded with color (color is the key), you ought to try the metallic paper at mpix.com on an enlargement. They are phenomenal and have reproded my shots perfectly! See ya around the neighborhood my friend. -Brent

Hi Clark, I want to thank you so much for your very kind comments on my homepage featured album "Fractal Gallery 2" and also "Fractal Femmes". I am almost speechless over my work being featured and was having a little trouble at work concentrating on the job today! To say I was surprised and delighted on the feature would be an understatement, more like I was flabbergasted. As a longtime admirer of your beautiful work, I was very flattered that someone of your stature and popularity as a leading photographer on this site took the time to give such encouraging feedback - and a wonderful validation for me. I have practised obsessively for almost 17 years as a fractalist and mastered many fractal-generating programs, but have finally found the one for me - which is Frederick Slijkerman's Ultra Fractal - not user-friendly but with multiple layering capabilities giving it a clear edge over most other programs of its type. This feature and the many encouraging comments I have received from amazing people in the WS community, has given me the confidence to take my art a step further - perhaps to print as you suggest. Once again, many thanks for your kindness, cheers, Coco

Clark -- Message 2, Please forgive me for this shameless form letter that I'm addressing to everyone. Please know that the time and thoughtfulness you offered in your congratulations on my Civita Stairs picture deserves much better from me. But I recently have started my own business and have found what that means with your time... yikes! I have left Broadcasting after 25 years and have decided to strike out on my own in photography. I probably should be committed, but life is much too short to not try the very thing you love so much. Once this kicks in (fingers crossed), I probably will no longer compete in the challenges -- which saddens me. I'm saddened because I have struck up such a fondness and friendship with so many of you here in such a short time. To look at each others pictures and to offer encouragement that goes beyond photography is a gift and a blessing, and something I will miss a great deal. If you get a chance would you visit my site--it is still in it's infancy and I have a very small number of pics there, but I would love to hear from you and any ideas you might have. Bookmark me with the thought that Christmas is soon coming up...ha ha, what a shameless plug! I am humbled in knowing my WS family and will continue to pray that the Lord shower each of your lives with continued goodness and love. -Brent http://highnoonphoto.smugmug.com

Clark, 712 miles! From El Paso to Corpus. Yep I drove it. Either way, Corpus or San Diego, I have to travel a long distance to find this kind of water. Thanks for the visits my friend. I have been to Hawaii twice now, but as Lois says, "I can be packed and ready in an hour"... for another visit! One time I visited 6 of the islands there. Thanks again for all the support. -Brent

Me again - after I wrote I checked my messages and there you were! You asked, "...'just curious... where do you and Mike live in Florida?" // We're on the central Gulf coast - 75 mi. east of Orlando and about 4 hours from Jax. Mike's youngest sister lives in Neptune Beach, not far west of A1A so I know of the places you'll be seeing. Now that we've both gone back to work, sadly Mike & I don't get too far from home on 2-day weekends. - Funny you spoke of Jimmy Buffett and a manatee, as I was thinking of that as I stood on the little bridge. No, I didn't have the polarizer on when I shot that sparkling water - it was back w/Mike in the van, but I adjusted my settings, hoping it wouldn't wash out...and it didn't! Long enough - I'll say bye for now, Judy

Clark ... Thank you for your comments on my Tarpon Springs album. You must be excited about your upcoming trip! Thanksgiving time is a wonderful time of year to see Florida and coastal Georgia. It isn't often that we hear of people traveling to the 'mainland' - usually they're going in the opposite direction! :D ... I don't get to the east coast of FL very often but Candis [ctdavis22] has lots of good photos; I'm sure you've seen her work. ... Early Happy Thanksgiving to you & Janet! ... Judy

Oh Clark, I am so delighted to hear of your wonderful projects, it is fantastic! I am here! You may not hear from me every day as my stats have skyrocketed into the stratosphere, they've given me the Most Viewed and Most Downloaded number one slot in Outdoors Fall Scenics with my sun pillar and Spirit of Delight collections, I am quickly rolling over 1 million views any second with only 10 months of recent uploads and activity this year although I have had my premium membership since 2003 and until last December I had only one album ~ my original Ourjrny family collection, and it is still raining mail with features in Christmas Decorations, Digital Art, Outdoors, Rivers and Lakes, Clouds and Sky, Sunsets, Beaches (There is one of my Darkly, deeply, beautifully blue images in Beaches today!), Travel Hawai'i, Alaska ..... I had 18 features in one day a couple of days ago! Along with features in Editor's Collections, Wow!! It is so much fun, richly rewarding, wonderfully validating, and I appreciate it so very much! It is also very challenging to respond to everyone! I don't quite know what to do and am completely overwhelmed with the wonderful attention in keeping up with the incoming mail! I can only hope everyone understands! I was here on your profile last night, I visit you every day! Did I not leave a note? How odd is that! I return to the islands to restore my soul almost every single day through your beautiful images Clark! I am familiar with HDR imaging, not a big fan of the look of it. I do however love your gorgeous photographs, especially your palm and sky sunset images! Your talented eye for composition, colour, clarity and camera work is fantastic, there is so much soul in your photos! And I believe you should market postcards, calenders, posters, clothing, etc. with your beautiful island images! They are so wonderful Clark!! I am sending you warm greetings of Aloha and wishes for a delightful day, with all my best wishes for success in all your interests and endeavors my dearest sweet friend!! Sharon

Hi Clark... Hello... I am working on a new album... The birth of a cactus flower... But I will like your comments on it ... I'm excited about it... I planted this cactus about 5 years ago and this is the first year it is having a flower... And can you believe it... it is facing my neighbors yard... So to get photos of it I have to climb up a ladder twist and turn to get a shot... Darn it all... And to top it off it is blooming tonight... In the dark... Wow such drama... Anyway it is fun... Here is the link... Oh and by the way the flower is beautiful.... Oh.. and the beautiful flower only lasted for 24 hours... So sad... all that time to turn into a beautiful flower and only lasted for such a short time... But I am so happy I got to see it... So many people miss the beautiful things in life cause they don't look or don't have the time... I am so glad I got to see this... Check it out and tell me what you think... http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/560969147YhtLGb?vhost=home-and-garden&action=refreshPhotos&albumID=560969147&security=YhtLGb Thanks so much... Clark, I was wondering if you've heard anything about a 21' sailboat named Grace, 1 person on board, overdue on trip from Kauai, Hawaii to Ketchikan, Alaska or alternate destination Seattle, Washington? The Coast Guard has been doing a PonPon for what must be over a week now... and I'm praying... I'm getting pretty worried about this overdue person. I can't imagine why anyone would travel that course at this time of year alone! In case you're wondering... Of COURSE I have a VHF in the house! Doesn't everyone? -DJ

AND now I'll be grinning all day because of you!!! You made me LOL!! Right back at ya!!! And while I'm here... Would you please take a peek at these http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/560939644FIgwxI? I'd especially appreciate some help on what I did wrong on the last two images in the album - they're the same shot. The last one is RAW but I had cropped it, so perhaps it'll be a bit hard to compare it to the jpg. I must've done something wrong to both the jpg and the RAW tho. Once again, I thank you so much for starting my day off right!!! STILL laughing! -DJ

Clark, why is it everything you touch turns to gold? I was so thrilled when you left those beautiful comments on the albums I have of my children and then not long after, my 'Fantastic Four' album had a picture chosen for the POTD in the Family channel. The next news from you was when you were so excited about the sun pillar shot and you were sure that it would be a POTD - well good on you! I couldn't stop smiling when I checked the homepage this morning and I saw that magnificent Sun Pillar for everyone to see. I want you to know how thoughtful it was of you to let so many members know about this great shot - I can see by Sharon's comments below that you have helped to make her one very happy lady! Have a wonderful day. Roxanne

Kealohapumehana dearest Clark!!! I awoke at 0430 this morning, prepared some coffee and opened my hotmail. The first thing which startled me is that I have over 1000 new comments today from Webshots, and when I randomly chose one to open, read a wonderful comment from someone I don't know, then I scrolled up and noticed the stats skyrocketing on my Spirit of Delight collection as well as my others, and the numbers, last time I checked on Sun Pillar ~ Autumn Sunset over a Permafrost Forest ~ Interior Alaska, it has at this moment 127 comments and climbing! Out loud in disbelief I said so softly 'What?' and then I opened Webshots front homepage and there I saw my image! I burst into tears, I am still crying!! I am so surprised and so delighted and so moved and so deeply grateful for having this feature, it is like being above the fold on the front page of the New York Times!! I can hardly believe it! No one could ever possibly know how much this means to me! And you my dearest friend are the one for which my first response is intended. You are the most wonderful friend for I know that your recommendation and wonderfully altrustic actions are responsible for my receiving front page exposure! I have you to thank first Clark for this marvelous gift of recognition for my love of the craft of photography! Thank you thank you dearest friend! I will always cherish this moment!! It is truly a highlight in my life and I am so happy!! Mahalo nui loa e lokahi!! Aloha!! Sharon

Hey Clark, I'm no longer in broadcasting, but was for 25-years. Specifically, I was in Television Broadcasting. After college I went to work for a station in the production department. I eventually moved into the News division where I spent the last 24 years. I've had various positions, the last 10 as the News Operations Manager. It was an amazing career, but one that is often not very family friendly and can leave you a bit jaded and cynical. I'm currently in the process of developing a promotions/marketing company with an emphasis on Christian ministries. Thanks for asking. Keep those wonderful pictures of your island homeland coming. Give me a heads up when you post, it has been a pleasure to look at your work. -Brent

Photography has been my passion for over 50 years now, and just ask my wife Marg, my camera is always part of my dress code, whenever I leave the house...Once again, thank you for your wonderful, gracious comments...Larry in Winnipeg.

Hello Clark, thanks for visiting and commenting on my St. John's River Sunset album. The album was really an experiment for me as I am new to low light photography and HDR. I was very surprised to get a POTD out of it! The photo was taken in Mandarin at the boat dock next to the Walter Jones Historical Park just a few minutes from my home. Also, it is the Buckman you see in the background of some of the photos. I hope you enjoy your trip to Jax this November!
