  • What memories these barns bring back. Almost like Burma Shave signs! I love old barns and have a collection of pictures.

  • Looks like you and I share a lot of the same photo interests. This has got to be the best collection of Mail Pouch barns I've seen. Looks like I'll be doing a road trip on the Shadow this summer. Destination: West Virginia! Thanks for sharing. Fred in East Tennessee USA

  • Bill & Kay...Love the title "Barnstorming" as it's very fitting for albums such as these..Simply awesome barn captures as these old structures are classic's & once they are gone...they are gone forever except in the photographs taken by barn lovers..Thanks for sharing a part of your country with the rest of us as it's always interesting to see places & structures that we've never seen in person...God's Blessings from Texas...Ken

  • This is a wonderful album! It must have taken time and patience to put it together. I love old barns and am hoping someday to work on an album of old tobacco barns in Maryland. I really appreciate the time you put into this and have learned a lot browsing through your great photos! Ken - Maryland

  • Bill and Kay, I love this album. It reminds me of my youth when traveling to Kentucky with my family I would count all of the barns with "Chew Mailpouch Tobacco" or "See Rock City" signs on them.Hello, May I extend my best wishes to you and yours during this Blessed Holiday Season. I really appreciate all of your very generous comments in my guestbooks in the past. Since we share an interest in barns, I want to invite you to visit my recently completed album on the Amish and an Amish Barn Raising. I am sure that you will enjoy it if you have not already seen it. I am amazed that this large Amish barn was built and stocked with hay in one day by these Amish farmers without any modern day tools. Their horses and carriages were also wonderful subjects to photograph. Enjoy! Bill Cable (heyburn3)

  • Hi Kay and Bill! You two must have covered a lot of West VA to capture the photos of all these old barns with the Mail Pouch advertising. It's been a while since I've seen advertising on barns. Great photos!!!! Around here it used to be advertising for Meramec Caverns!!! :-)) Thanks for the sweet comments about my album being featured today. Hope you guys have a great weekend. Lots of hugs! Sharon

  • Loved the old barns with the Mail Pouch advertising. I've never seen anything like it before on a barn. My first thought was "what the heck is a mail pouch barn? Must be something to do with the way the mail was handled years ago..." Thanks for the pictures and the laugh.

  • Kay and Bill, Great album of old and newer Mail Pouch Barns. Great photos. My favorites are #6 and the one that looks like it is tipping over. Must have had to much liquor and "chaws" . Never "chawed&quot ;, myself. Wonderful album. Thank you for visiting my Brrrrrrrrrrrrr album and your kind comments. Sharon

  • Thanks for stopping in and leaving your "calling card", Bill and Kay. I know I've visited your site in the past. Your Webshots user name echoes in my memory, and I even thought we had communicated previously, it was so "familiar&qu ot;. But that could be because I once spent a good deal of time seeking photos from West Virginia and Virginia. From where do you hail originally? I lived for a year in the geographical center, near Sutton where my deceased husband was reared. It's a beautiful state and I miss it sorely, living here in the southwest. Now, I adore these old Mail Pouch barns. We never see anything like that out here, but I grew up with them throughout Virginia. What a sense of nostalgia they evoke! These type photos should be archived for posterity. Thanks for sharing them! Charlotte chargerfree@mindspring.co m

  • Hi guys! What an original idea! Mail Pouch Barns! I'd be damned if I knew what Mail Pouch would mean, if I were to see these ads without your word of explanation. Never too old to learn. When he was younger, my dad used to chew tobacco. Stag brand it was. This thing smelled so good and sweet that I wanted to tasted it once. I managed to cut away a tiny piece when he was not around. I swallowed the juice after chewing! Not a good idea when you are six years old. Never chewed tobacco ever since. Back to the barns, great idea and great photos. Keep up the good work. Ray

  • This is a cool album. I remember seeing barns with this advertising when I was growing up. Really forgot about that too. How wonderful so many have survived and their ads still showing. A real piece of Americana. Thanks for the memories. Dynna

  • Hello Kay, I was sort of hoping that someone else had already commented on this album because I can't figure out "mail pouch barns" from looking at the photos, I am guessing that mail pouch is a brand of tobacco??? I can't figure out the barn part! I do like this album, we have so few barns in this part of the country, and it is always so enjoyable to see things from our past! Thanks for sharing your photos, you guys are so good!!! Candy
