  • Beautiful cakes, Jeff! You make them so smooth and flawless! I loved each one! Hopefully, one day my cakes will turn as as wonderful as yours and others who share on the website! Thanks again for the tips and great pictures! Thanks, Valerie (VA)

  • You do such beautiful work, I've just lost myself for 30 min looking at your albums. Your gp roses are the most beautiful and realistic.Your icing is so incredibly smooth and sharp! Do you always use the upside down icing method to get them that sharp? Faux fondant is my fondant method of choice. I just love the look and taste. Also want to say thank you for the gp rose tutorial. I'll be using that one soon.

  • Thank you for the nice compliments. No, I rarely ever do the upside down...it was just a trick I came up with to help some folks struggling with getting a smooth top. I just use a bench scraper for the sides and and small angles spatula for the top. I also use my faux fondant smoother technique as well....none of the cakes pictured here are fondant...all are buttercream. You can find the directions for making my faux fondant smoother at http://members.nuvox.net/~zt.proicer/message/saved/FauxFondantSmoother.htm The roses are based on a lot of ideas I gather from other folks, especially Rosemary Watson who used to operate Sugar Bouquets...now retired.
