  • After seeing that Kamal Nawash -- an independent running as a Republican -- appeared at this event, I wrote to ask him what he was doing there. Sounds like he didn't know what he was getting into! Here's his response: Thank you Todd: I did not know who they were or that they were involved. The event was placed on my calendar by my campaign manager who was told that it was a political activisim event. I regret going there.   • A note from the photographer: I learned quite a bit about Mr. Nawash from the well-written and researched blog at this link - http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/86 I find it very difficult to believe that Mr. Nawash had no idea who he was standing with on May 24, 2003. And once he was there, and had the opportunity to listen to the radical speakers' incitement to commit violence against me, what kept him from either walking away without speaking OR from getting up on the stage and publicly disavowing what Brian Becker and others had said? He was one of the last speakers to go up on stage that day - after Becker publicly called for my special treatment. Sorry, but Mr. Nawash's words today do not fit with his past words and deeds.
