Eastern Chipmunk (Tamias striatus), Quebec, Canada. The common name originally may have been spelled "chitmunk" (from the Odawa word jidmoonh, meaning "red squirrel"; c.f. Ojibwe, ajidamoo).

Fantastic slide show Michel, they are so photogenic and colorful. These cute little fellas have adorned this album so well and I enjoyed my journey visiting them. Hope you had a good New Year Michel, I am recovering from a broken ankle, did it 5 weeks before Christmas so found it hard to get into the spirit of things, but it is all mended, just swells if I stay on it for too long...Take good care along Highway 2011 and I'll meet you along it at some stage....Hugs, Shirley
