Album Description:

I remember going to Woodmar Mall when I was young; but stores continued to close til it was practically abandoned. It was demolished in 2006 to make way for redevelopment. Inexcusably, the land is still vacant today due to politics.

    • Thanks everyone for viewing and enjoying the photos of Woodmar Mall. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anything major will be happening in this album in the near future. Please check out my "Downtown Yesterday" album and other albums as I try to document/explore my city as best as I can. Regards, Alex

    • Thanks for keeping us up to date on what's happening in the old hometown. My first job was in summer 1959, between my junior and senior years at Morton H.S., as a stock boy at J.J. Newberry in Woodmar Shopping Center, as it was called then, a few years before it was enclosed. Because of my interest in photography, my favorite store at the center was Watland's Camera.

    • I think this site is great. I have a lot of fond memories at woodmar, like every week going to woodmar records and picking up the hottest new 45 record. There used to be so many people and so many stores were open, then and over the years before I moved away I watched the once strong woodmar mall go down down down you couldn't find a store that would stay in there for to long. As I look at these photos I can remember what stores used to be in there. I now live 400 miles away and this site helps bring back my fond memories of that once great mall called woodmar
