Where are the fireworks? What's Chinese New Year without fireworks? I was in China last February for the New Year and fireworks went off every night for weeks. The year before ('06), my wife and I had a Chinese New Year party in our apartment and, since I knew the importance of fireworks for Chinese New Year, after dinner, I set off fireworks inside our apartment. The fireworks bounced off the ceiling and off the walls, hitting people. The explosions echoed and almost broke our eardrums. People were screaming. One of my wife's friend's hair caught fire. Pretty soon the apartment was on fire and we had to call the fire department. Everything we owned was destroyed by the fire, BUT AT LEAST WE CELEBRATED THE CHINESE NEW YEAR PROPERLY! - Jamie in New York City
