Hi Chris, I had very limited experience with kayaks when I built this one so I sort of guessed where the foot rails should go. I sat in the open hull before the deck was installed and tried to get comfortable and let my feet rest where they might. I'm a little over 6 ft tall so I wanted to set my rails up so that my shorter friends or kids could use the boat in the future. With that in mind I set the rails back a little further and still left room to adjust the foot rests forward if the need arises. The height is set so that the center of the pads comes out at the balls of my feet. I guess I got lucky because I've put in 20 mile a week since April and haven't felt like I needed to move them at all. By the way, I bolted the foot braces to the wooden pucks and clamped the assembly into the hull at the same time when I installed them. That way I didn’t even have to measure the distance between the holes and I knew ahead of time that everything would line up when it was finished. Kyle T.

Thank you so much for posting your pictures and descriptions on the Web. They have answered many of my questions. Also. I have used many of your ideas. One question, has the placement of the foot rails worked out? A little lower/higher,, fore / aft? Again, Thank you, Chris - Pensacola, FL
