MiT, I guess I miss your post on this one! #16 is Leopard Lily, #17 is Sierra Gentian, #18 is beautiful (sorry, not sure what it is)! And you know I LOVE the Mountain Yellow Legged Frog!! Colormine, I read Armstrongs story. I was in the same snowstorm and we bailed on our trip. We were out for 8 days when it hit, so we weren't expecting it. Thanks, MiT!

JimJ in Camino I've never been to Pioneer Basin. So beautiful. Now I have to go. Besides, I just have to see that giant handprint on that mountain for myself. :) Did you read Steve Armstrong's account of his son, Aaron's, "adventure" in this, area? Sept 2004, Aaron was retrieving a cached bear cannister on a 21 mile day-hike. On the way out he got off-trail in an unexpected whiteout. He thought he was heading up to Mono Pass and Ruby Lk but the wrong trail took him to another lake that he mistook for Ruby--probably Golden Lk. He ended up spending the night in a snowstorm on the shore of the lake. Day-hiking layers only; no sleeping bag; wrapped himself in a tarp and just shivered until daylight and the end of the whiteout. If you haven't read it, I think you would enjoy it. (backpacker forums) I think you have an artistic eye. You frame your subject well before popping the photo. You capture an experience. You and your friends seem like happy people. Fun! Thanks, J;O)
