Wow Jill! Beautiful orchids and I am a little jealous to see them growing wild and so magnificant as they are! I have only ever seen one wild orchid when I visited Tasmania and it was a very little pink thing about the size of my thumbnail!! Actually, I lie, I just remembered that I have seen a white native NZ one on Great Barrier Island but it too was extremely tiny! I also had no idea that that many orchids were to be found in England - I guess I just thought that it would be too cold (we have to grow them inside here). Thanks for your lovely comments in my guestbook and I too am very glad to have joined the group as now I get to see all your photos also! :) Hugs, Kate

Jill, these are beautiful orchid pictures. I was married for many years to a botanist who loves orchids. We had four species on our land in Derbyshire, and I now have two here in South Wales, with two more growing in the lanes close by. This is a superb reference collection, which I will use for identification if I find any I can't immediately identify, as all our orchid books are still in Derbyshire with the botanist! Thank you for sharing these lovely sharp pictures. If you're interested, I put a few orchid pictures on my site, as well as some sunsets and sunrises, which you might also enjoy. (I came here via today's featured sky album.) Best wishes from Carmarthenshire, Sue.

Hello Jill, seeing the contents of your page, I think you are right that we sit on the same wavelenth with regard of taking pictures. I too like to take photos of wild flowers and nature scenes, and the pictures of these orchids are making my mouth water. Lucky you to find so many different species. The photography is excellent. I especially like #7, 11, 15, 29, 34, 39. The subtitles to the photos are also very clarifying and give an extra dimension to the album. Thanks for sharing, and thanks also for your congrats on behalf of my recent feature. It was very nice to have met you and your way of photography. I will certainly come back for another visit. If you are interested, I also uploaded a new album recently, Raindrop Fascination, on this site. May be I see you there. Kind regards, Els (wely246/evanwely)

Jill - this is fascinating ! I have found several varierties of wild orchids here in the South Eastern coast of the USA as well. I never had such things in the North Eastern Great Lakes area of the USA. Amazing how much different the plant life can be just a thousand miles away ... Thanks for the education ! - Pat

Hi Jill, thank you so much for your wonderful messages over the last month. I enjoyed them very much. Somehow I think we have a lot in common. The Macros for instance. And I often photograph details just to see them better, I even do that with written details!! It is so much easier sometimes to photograph an 'instruction for use' (especially those!) change the color from LIGHT(!)brown to black and to read it on the screen. :-) Life is easier with an PC! :-) I agree with you, that it is a real joy to come back to the PC and look at the captured treasures. I this album I found a lot of treasures! ! ! I like that you captured them from some distance and then got them closer and closer. This gave me the impression that I by myself were there just having a closer look. I like the Man Orchid close-up, the different shades of green and the unusual shape are very beautiful. Back again to your messages: I am so happy you liked the feet picture of Yoav, my grandson! :-) I find myself getting pictures of his feet all the time. Yesterday I've 'got them' in my son's big hands. I HAVE to upload that one! Galit from Israel

Well done Jill, I wondered if you would put all these ochids into an album of there own. It now makes a good reference for anybody wishing to know more about them. Well photographed and nice detail makes this an album to very much respect. Well done again Ken

Hi Jill. Nicely done, as always and you capture the colour and texture of these flowers so very well. I had no idea orchids grew in such profusion in England. Is there a local Orchid Society? Off dancing shortly - catch you later. Peter
