  • The history of this beautifully situated borough dates way back in the history of Denmark. From here several kings reigned over Denmark, and here King Valdemar IV (Valdemar Atterdag) 1362 commenced the building of his castle. Of the original buildings only the goose tower remains as a witness of Vordingborg's former proud history and status as the capital of Denmark. Today Vordingborg is more than just "the town with the Goose Tower". It is a modern center in the region of south Zealand with all conceivable facilities: hospital, schools, theater, cinema, museum, youth hostel, public swimming baths and other sports facilities.
