  • My question is where is this place located in Blackwell, I am very familiar with the surrounding areas. If the cemetary is on private property then i would like to talk to the owner to see if i could have access to take pictures. thanks

  • Its my understanding that around 1862 (give or take 10-15 years) that there was a Judge Blackwell. Is Jeremiah Blackwell the same person as the Honorable Blackwell, or someone different? Also, does ANYONE have a picture of the Honorable Judge Blackwell that they can send me. If you do, please email it to me at swingtradingresearch@msn. com I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Hello, It is really neat that you have such good picture of this town. My cousin and I have been "ghost hunting" in Blackwell. We heard about the Black Tram bridge and the four-winds resteraunt and desided to go looking on upper Blackwell Rd. for this so called activity. I was just wondering if you have any information you could share about all of this. I am very interested to know the history of this bridge. thank you!

  • I have read some of the messages above. Jcrasha@yahoo.com wishes add'l info on Blackwell history. If you do a search on Blackwell history, you will find family trees, and also info going all the way back to Blackwell Island in NY which is now named Roosevelt Island and how the Blackwell's obtained the property. Fascinating reading.....Blackwell's held the island property and farmed that land for 150 yrs before NY confiscated (or purchased for approx $32,000) the land. It's worth looking up and wandering through the documentation. Peg

  • My name is Peggy Sue Blackwell. I am married to William (Billy) E. Blackwell, the great, great, great grandson of Jeremiah Blackwell, great, great grandson of William Blackwell, great grandson of Aquilla, grandson of Charles, and son of Earl R. Blackwell. Thank you for sharing your pics, they are wonderful. Billy took me to the old cemetery a few yrs ago and hope to visit the old spring house next spring. Other Blackwell's are buried in MoonTown Cemetery (including Aquilla) located on Engeldow Rd. outside of Blackwell, MO. We are currently Trustees of that cemetery. I am so fascinated with the Blackwell history. The book written by Norma Hoelzel is a great reference to some of Blackwell history. The other members of MoonTown Cemetery are fascinating to listen to regarding stories of the past. Thanks again, Peggy

  • Hi, I am a decendant of the blackwells my great grandmother was mollie blackwell the daughter of james s. blackwell & debra roberts. mollie was born in blackwell mo.she married gilbert hodge. I'm excited that i found this site. I'm currently doing geneology on my family and this is great i grew up in jefferson co. and a trip to old blackwell was a treat in my youth just knowing that a town was named after part of your family. it is a shame that the old town has been destroyed like it has and the bridge is closed. the blackwell cemetery is in terrible shape i currently live in northwest mo. but ifsome of the descendants could get together to clean it up i would sure try to help all my family is still in jeff. co. well thank you for a trip down memory lane. sincerly michael girdner
