  • When we moved out here to Coyote Country a co worker gave us a cash gift as a house warming present -- we went up to the city and used that money to adopt Benji -- he was a ragged/dirty guy, just picked up as a stray, had to wait 3 days to take him home -- on day 4 the shelter called and said to ome get him. We did and he graced our house for 10 yrs !!! Charley

  • I am so bummed! I called today, June 9th, about a female g. shep puppy. The homepage indicated she was at the shelter. When I called, they said she had been put down! Why put a dog on the homepage if you are just going to put her down later that day? What's more, why not put all the dogs in view instead of saying there are more at the shelter? Also, when you search petfinder, the mass shelter program is not compatible with the way they do searches. It almost seems that no one really cares if these dogs get a chance to get any publicity to find a new home. I know you all have a tough job, but this system obviously doesn't work if you really want to try to find homes for the pets.

  • We adopted a gorgeous 1 year old female, mixed german shepherd cross kelpie here in Australia and what a fabulous dog she is. Her name is Zoe and had been at the pound here for 4 weeks. Congrats on what you are doing for these poor little sweeties. We would love to see them, but not behind those cages. Can you show photos of them, without the cage in front of them, please? Keep up the good work. Reg & Claudia, Australia

  • The best dog I ever had came from this shelter. He was a scared, unresponsive, dirty puppy. But there was something about him----- Never could decide what breed mix he was, except he was probably part Irish Wolfhound. For ten years I had the most loyal, protective, gentle and kind dog I've ever known. He's gone now, cancer. I've since adopted two other dogs, both to foster. One was a scabby, skinny German Shepherd who turned out to be a handsome wonderful boy, now living a great life in the Arkansas countryside. The other was a mix - probably basset and terrier. She's Miss Personality Plus, and has also found a loving home. There are so many diamonds in the rough. All it takes is a little courage and a will to make life better for just one of these creatures. Try adopting, if only to foster. It's so worth it!

  • Thirteen years ago, my son, who was 5 years old at the time, wanted a dog named Sam for Christmas. We visited the Memphis Animal Shelter and found our Sam. He is a wonderful little Scotty who is now 15 years old and has been a blessing to us. Although he has health problems and is on medication he still acts as young as a puppy! He loves to eat his mixed vegetables and every once in a while will grab one of his toys and run through the house. I am truly thankful that we have him.

  • My daughter saw a cat on this web site last year, and she insisted that she had to adopt that cat. We went down to the Memphis Animal Shelter and found her, and now she is a part of our family and we love her. Thank you!

  • Hello, this is a wonderful album, sure makes you want to get moving and grab one of the pups before the worst could happen. I wish I had a large property where I could help you out, but I surely do not. Thanks for bringing this area of expertise to the attention of thousands. Ron/Southern Oregon Coast

  • Worthwhile idea/cause for the featured album. Puppy and kitten mills, buying pedigree pets for status symbols, illegal importation of wild animals for illegal sale as pets, failure to spay and neuter, and general human failure to treat other species humanely, all lead to the kind of desperate plight we see here. At least these animals are being fed and kept warm, dry, and safe as long as they are alive. Millions live in disease and hunger in alleyways, rural areas, and, chained, in back yards, or crowded in livestock "factories&q uot;. Your efforts here, and Webshots selection of your album as a feature help raise awareness of this horrible problem which will probably never go away. ~~~~Bob

  • Congratulations on your featured album! What marvelous work you are doing. I was a volunteer at a cat shelter and adopted 2 of them. I know live in the country and have taken in 3 more cats, that were dumped off by our home. What a terrible thing that people do to their pets. Thanks for bringing this to everyones attention. • Congratulations on your feature - great way to get the word out, but... Am I missing something here? Where are you located? I can find no information on where this shelter is on the home page or in the How To Adopt album. I'm guessing somewhere in Massachusettes by the user name but it's just a guess. More information, including location and phone number might help you get a lot more responses! Good luck to you and all those adorable animals and thanks so much for all you do for them. Warm greetings from California, Beth

  • Congratulations with the featuring. Hope these dogs get owners soon. Hint: Maybe you can make one photo per album of the view dogs have: being behind bars... But then make a photo of each dog which shows clearly what the dog looks like. How beautiful he/she is so looks. Plus some more info on character, age etc... This may help even more in getting them a home of their own. Greetings Anna Oldenhave, The Netherlands
