pete, loved the new photos. i can't wait to get back out there. they could be a great presentation to State Parks for preserving the area as a botanical/geological natural area. what do you think?

pete, i noticed your black walnut tree shots. how can one differentiate between native black walnut and eastern black walnut? I've tried keying them out but the characteristics are so similar I can't make a final determination. I know many pioneers brought e. walnut out west as root stock for english walnut orchards. if the ones you saw are indeed our natives, i'd like to collect some nuts and grow them out. when is our next hike?
