Helen, thank you for squaring me away on the genders of the shisa's, I'm figuring mouth open, mouth closed definitions are correct!! White Beach sounds more familiar, thank you for that one. Coos Bay/North Bend is my home. I shoot with film and digital, but lately with more digital. If I have some time on my hands and don't mind the wait, I'll shoot film. This digital is about a 1.2 pixel strength, whereas the film shots will go higher after scanning same. Appreciate you answering my questions and squaring me away at the same time. Drop by again. Helen, I wanted to thank you and yours for your comments in my "Mountains&q uot; album and for trying to find out what kind of ship was anchored at sea, out of Iwo Jima. Question on the 'shisa's', are they a symbol to ward off evil spirits or a good luck symbol? It would help to know, seeing how there are so many here in these nifty phots. While in the Navy, we had a 12-hour liberty call in a place called White City in Okinawa...can't tell you if this was a name the military gave the town or actually the name of the place. I remember getting into a Volkwagon bug with four other sailors, a taxi at the time, how we all fit in the thing was beyond my immagination, but five miles later the taxi dumped us in town and we went on from there. Thanks again for showing us where your camera lens has been taking you. Interesting trips you both take. Your website is beautiful... crisp, close and clean pictures. I like those kind. I absolutely love this album! I have a blue ceramic shisa I inherited from my mother. I never knew what to call him until I saw your collection. Thanks! Lynn in Virginia USA
