The Niederwald Denmal was there before Germany was ever split up, and not due to the reunification, where do you get your info?

I'm not positive, but I believe the Rhine Castle you asked about is the "Rhine Rhinefels" ruins located on the West bank, just a couple of miles North of the town of St.Goar. It has quite a history. Check it out and let me know if its the one. Andy0629@earthlink.net

And yet another "nameless Rhine castle" (with a massive square tower) is castle Gutenfels.

The other "nameless castle ruin" with a pointed tower roof is castle Stahleck, and has been rebuilt recently.

The name of the castle on the Rhine you can't remember is Rheinstein, or "Rhine Stone", in English.
