I completely agree with you: this beautiful monument deserves a better entourement. I hope it is just a question of time, because I have been there a few months ago and they where yet restauration work. I could'n even photograph the front side of the church, it was covered yet. So, let's hope for those trees. If necessary, we call the 1000 monks :) Another thing: have you seen closely the stone work in the tumbs of Pedro e Inês? I am going to make an album with one or two photos of it, right now.

I have a dear friend Francesco who retired to his birthplace of Alcobaca. Nov of 2004 myself and two other close friends visited Francesco in Alcobaca. Your photos capture the beauty of the region what you can't show is the beatuy its people. The hospitality of the people mathces the beauty of the area. I would go back at the drop of a hat and would recomend to everybody not to miss this special spot in Europe

Dear Antti, I must say "ditto" to everything below that has been said. How gracious of you to share all of this with us. I seldom download all the photos from an album but with this , I couldn't resist.Whether or not you're Catholic, you have captured the Holy and Divine in these photos. My favorite is the high altar at Easter time with the brilliance of the red carpeting in contrast to the walls and Crucifix behind. Thanks, again. Ron, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, USA

This is a most wonderful and detailed album of this beautiful church and monastary. I feel all the beauty nearly as much as if I were behind the camera with you. Thank you for this most delightful experience viewing your beautiful portrait ... Ray, California

Many years ago I visited Alcobaca, and I found the monastery and the church the most wonderful gothic buildings in all of Europe (and I have seen a few); your pictures wonderfully bring back these memories. Thanks! Sante Brun, The Netherlands
